Habanero peppers

What are Habanero peppers?

Overview:

Habanero is a hot variety of pepper. Habanero peppers are green when immature, and orange and red as they mature, but the fruit can also be white, brown, yellow, green or purple.

Typically, a ripe habanero pepper is up to 2-6 cm long. Habanero peppers are very hot, rated 100,000-350,000 on the Scoville scale. Habanero is a seriously hot pepper. And unlike many hot peppers it tastes quite a bit like citrus. If the heat can tolerate then it is a delicious culinary pepper for cooking. The heat and aroma of Habanero makes it a popular ingredient in hot sauces and other spicy foods.

Habanero is named after the Cuban city of La Habana. It is widely used in Cuban traditional cuisine. Now the largest producer of Habanero pepper is the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It is also being produced in Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador and parts of the United States, including Texas, Idaho and California.

The Scotch Bonnet is often compared to the Habanero. Since they are two varieties of the same species, both the Scotch bonnet and the Habanero skin are thinner. Habanero heat is effective within minutes and lasts up to an hour on the face.

Sometimes the heat can be felt in the esophagus a few hours after eating. Habanero is a perennial flowering plant. It can produce flowers and fruits for many years. The plant will continue to bear fruit as long as the conditions are favorable.

Health  Benefits

Habanero pepper contains a number of nutritional vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber that have many health benefits. The most interesting aspect of Habanero pepper is its vitamin C which exhibits high antioxidant activity and also contains capsaicin. This compound gives many health benefits for the human body. The health benefits of eating chili peppers are briefly described below.

Anti-cancer

Hot peppers, including Habanero, are a good source of phenolic compounds such as aspolyphenols, carotenoids and ascorbic acid. These phytochemicals exhibit high antioxidant activity and their use reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases, including cancer. Some research has shown that capsaicin is an excellent anti-oxidant. So it can help reduce cancer cells. This results in an improved health condition. The growth of cancer cells slows down significantly.

Fights obesity

In research has shown that the presence of capsaicin stimulates the body to burn fat faster and is effective in fighting obesity. Capsaicin also works to reduce human appetite. Thermogenesis will create energy when eating Habanero peppers together during meals. Thermogenesis is the process by which the body increases its temperature or energy production. Increasing thermogenesis increases the body’s metabolism, forcing fat cells to use it as energy. The presence of capsaicin increases thermogenesis and lipid metabolism, without making the body fat which is beneficial for the treatment of obesity.

Lowers cholesterol

There has been much scientific research to evaluate the effect of capsaicin on cholesterol levels. One study found that daily capsaicin and other capsaicinoid hot peppers help reduce cholesterol levels. In research has also shown that capsaicinoids reduce total cholesterol and bad cholesterol levels without reducing good cholesterol levels. And capsaicinoids can reduce fatty deposits that have already begun to form in blood vessels and arteries.

Prevent cardiovascular disease

Capsaicin inside the habanero stimulates the body’s nerves which can increase blood flow and dilate blood vessels. Therefore, it will increase blood circulation and lower blood pressure in people with high blood pressure. It lowers blood cholesterol levels and prevents any type of cardiovascular disease. People who are at risk of heart attack, stroke and high blood pressure are advised to eat pepper. May be a natural way to maintain a healthy blood flow.

Prevent diabetes

Capsaicin in Habanero helps reduce diabetes levels. Most will work among overweight people, most of whom are at risk for type 2 diabetes. Habanero helps control blood glucose through eating and significantly controls diabetes. This does not mean that Habanero pepper can completely cure diabetes. But cooked may not be as effective as a pepper.

Lowers blood pressure

It is maybe effective in lowering blood pressure due to the presence of capsaicin in the Habanero pepper. One research found that the presence of capsaicin increased insulin growth factor levels. The insulin-like growth factor is quite effective in reducing arterial blood pressure.

Anti-inflammatory

Habanero pepper has anti-inflammatory effects. The production of capsaicin reduces inflammatory effects, such as swelling and pain. It is a natural way to relieve migraines and other types of pain.
