What is Jalapeno pepper?


Jalapeno pepper is a medium-sized Capsicum annuum species of chili pepper. A mature jalapeno chili is 5–10 cm (2–4 in) long and 25–38 mm (1–11⁄2 in) wide.

Usually eaten in green condition. It is sometimes fully ripe and red, orange or yellow.  If it is green, you can serve it for eating. But the red variety is as tasty as the green jalapeno pepper, though sweet.

Jalapeno pepper is known as Chili Gordo, also known as Cuaresmeno, Huachinango, Chipotle Pepper. The name Jalapeno is named from the Spanish “Xalapa”. Most jalapeno peppers come from Mexico. These powerful Jalapenos peppers are also grown throughout California and the American Southwest.

Jalapenos is most of America’s popular flavored chili pepper. Jalapeno peppers are usually medium-sized peppers than the green variety. ​It is slightly lighter and sweeter than the green variety.
